Members can rent VMs, limits depend on membership, etc. Both prepaid and postpaid options are supported. Contact support. These are clean VMs where the user has sudo access. This makes it possible to run Docker, mount FUSE filesystems, etc. You can optionally attach a disk at /work , which can be grown without a reboot. Egress on GCP is \$0.10/GB. GPU VMs via Nebius, with free egress, are coming soon. Spot instances support automatic restarts and temporary fallback to standard instances, exactly like project hosts. CoCalc memberships now include Codex AI usage, even free accounts. There is no price increase. This is an easy way to try Codex directly in CoCalc. It should be especially useful for occasional tasks such as: “Help me fix this code.” “Help me install this package.” “Explain this error.” “Help me get this project working.” Included usage currently uses GPT 5.6 Luna with medium reasoning. Limits depend on your membership tier and may be adjusted as we learn how people use the service. To get started, create a new chat and select CoCalc Membership as the payment source. It is selected automatically if you do not have a ChatGPT subscription connected. For sustained or serious Codex work, we highly recommend connecting an OpenAI ChatGPT subscription. It provides substantially more usage and is an exceptional value.
